Working with us, for you
You can study AAT qualifications from anywhere in the world, either in the classroom or from home via online or distance learning. Some training providers also offer blended learning options, so you can combine these two options for more flexibility.
Once you’ve chosen the right AAT qualification for you, your next step is to find a training provider, who will provide your tuition.
What do we mean by training providers?
Basically, they’re the people who are approved to deliver AAT qualifications and provide your training.
Ways to study
Whether you prefer to study online, in a classroom or combine the two, there’s an option that’s right for you.
Classroom study
The large majority of our training providers offer classroom courses – often with part-time and full-time options available.
Part-time
- One or two classes a week
- Often in the evening
- Perfect if you’re in full-time employment
Full-time
- Two, three or four classes a week
- Often in the day
- Perfect if you’re a school leaver
With flexible start dates, classroom study is great if you prefer:
- the buzz of the classroom environment
- close interaction with your tutors
- a structured learning approach.
Online or distance learning
For those who work or have family commitments, getting away to day or night classes can be difficult. If that applies to you, distance learning is an appealing and flexible study method that puts the ball in your court.

- You choose when and where you study
- You set the pace of study
- You tailor the level of support you receive
- You choose when you sit your assessments
Your distance learning provider will supply your tuition and study materials, ranging from basic correspondence courses through to live online classes.
Blended learning
This is an increasingly popular way to study. You’ll get access to structured, tutor-led, face-to-face and/or virtual classroom sessions supported by a local training provider, with the flexibility to progress your studies at work or home.
Self-studying
Most students need support from a tutor, and we encourage all students to register with an approved training provider for the best chance of success. However, if you feel you're confident in studying without tutor support, you may wish to consider self-studying.
You’ll need to buy AAT textbooks or choose a self-study package with a training provider. You’ll still need to register with AAT, which will give you access to our study support and eligibility to sit assessments. You’ll also need to find an approved assessment venue to sit our assessments, depending on the qualification you study.
